How to eSign PDF Documents Online Free in India

Digital signatures are legally valid in India under the IT Act 2000. Learn how to add your signature to PDF documents without printing.

Under the Information Technology Act 2000 and the IT (Amendment) Act 2008, electronic signatures are legally valid in India for most documents including contracts, agreements, and business correspondence.

What is NOT valid for e-signatures: Wills, power of attorney, negotiable instruments (cheques, promissory notes), and documents requiring registration under the Registration Act.

Tools360's eSign tool offers three ways to sign: Draw your signature with a mouse or finger (on mobile), type your name in a signature font, or upload a photo of your handwritten signature.

For rent agreements: Both landlord and tenant can sign the PDF digitally. This is legally valid for agreements under 11 months (which don't require registration).

For offer letters and employment contracts: Most Indian companies now accept digitally signed offer letters. HR teams can use Tools360 to add their company stamp and signature.

For freelance contracts: Add your signature and the client's name/date as a text label below the signature for a professional look.

Aadhaar-based eSign: For legally binding digital signatures with the highest validity, use Aadhaar eSign through DigiLocker or authorized service providers. Tools360's eSign is suitable for informal and business agreements.

How to use: Upload your PDF, choose your signature method, place it on the correct page, add a label with your name and date, and download the signed PDF.
